Raised on an acreage, Jayden learned early that the world often required more from those with less. As a kid, he picked sweet corn in the summers and went door to door selling it. He worked in a grocery store in high school and has worked through college.He is a 5th-generation Nebraskan with deep roots in the community. Jayden resides at his family acreage in Nehawka. He graduated from Conestoga Jr/Sr High School and is finishing a Bachelor of Arts at The George Washington University in Political Science and Public Policy. His grandmother was a small business owner, volunteered in the community, and ran for local office. They bought the farm they always dreamed of and were able to achieve the good life. As the years went on, his parents struggled. Jayden grew up poor in rural Nebraska. He was a kid that relied on Head Start and Medicaid. He got involved in politics to fight for working Nebraskans families like his. To fight for everyone to be able to achieve the good life once again.Jayden’s grandmother was his rock, his role model, and the one who taught him the true meaning of service. She was a Sunday school teacher, a village board member, a small business owner, and a community leader. She poured her heart into every role she held. She taught Jayden about the importance of giving back and how one person’s actions can lift an entire community. In elementary school, he founded “Club Liberty” to educate his peers about the history and values of America. By his freshman year of high school, he was mobilizing peers for political action, and he later became the first-ever student school board member. Jayden has seven years of experience in legislative advocacy fighting for Nebraskans. He fought alongside parents and community members to defend our schools against political attacks. Currently Jayden works with Nebraska attorneys to seek justice for all. He is a tireless advocate for all Nebraska communities.Jayden isn’t running to represent just Democrats or just Republicans, but will be a State Senator for all Nebraskans. He will always put people first and bring a balanced and more thoughtful voice to the Nebraska Legislature.<h4>Today, Jayden is ready to bring his story and his fight to office. Inspired by his journey from the fields of Nebraska to the nation’s capital and beyond, he understands that policy is personal. His roots in a working-class family, his grandmother’s legacy of service, and his experiences as a young community leader have prepared him to represent and fight for Nebraska’s 2nd Legislative District. Jayden supports policies and initiatives that expand access to childcare in Nebraska. He believes we should join our sister states of Iowa, Oklahoma, West Virginia, and others in guaranteeing universal preschool for all Nebraska four-year-olds.

Jayden Speed, a fifth-generation Nebraskan finishing his bachelor’s degree at George Washington University, filed his candidacy at 9 a.m. at the Election Division of the Secretary of State’s office in Lincoln. Supporters gathered outside the office during the filing.

Jayden will listen to our sheriffs’ deputies, police officers, and others in the law enforcement community to ensure they have the tools and support needed to keep our communities safe.Jayden knows that responsible gun ownership is not only a constitutional right but a longstanding tradition passed down by generations of Nebraskans. He supports the 2nd Amendment and will protect Nebraskans’ rights to hunt and defend themselves. Jayden also knows responsible gun ownership means we should encourage firearms safety, keep firearms out of the hands of criminals, and restore our permitting system.
